Luxury line Silversea Cruises has joined other cruise lines including Princess, Carnival and Holland America Line by prohibiting smoking in cabins aboard their ships. Effective 1 January 2013, the move means that smoking will no longer be allowed at all in private passenger areas, with Silversea already prohibiting smoking on cabin balconies. The only indoor venue still permitting smoking will be Connoisseur’s Corner, although there will still be designated areas on open decks where cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking will be permitted. “In consideration of evolving consumer trends, and to further promote a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment for our guests, staff and crew, we have updated the smoking policy for Silversea ships,” Silversea Cruises president of the Americas Ellen Bettridge said in a letter to travel agents last week. |
