The Disney Magic.

If the soaring cost of airline flights is discouraging cruise travel this summer, couples or families who love all things Disney can take advantage of sailings from New York on Disney Magic, with voyages to the Bahamas and Canada.

In just three turns from the Lincoln Tunnel to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal — left on 42nd Street, right on 12th Avenue and left on 55th Street — guests can cheer “bon voyage” without the hassle or expense of a flight.

The Disney Cruise Line sailings to the Bahamas departing from New York (eight nights) include a day at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay; Nassau, Bahamas; and a stop at Port Canaveral, Fla., giving guests an opportunity to visit the nearby Walt Disney World Resort. As part of this itinerary, each guest will receive a one-day Walt Disney World Park Hopper ticket and round-trip transportation between the Disney ship and the resort.

The five-night cruises up the New England coast to Canada call on Halifax, Nova Scotia, and St. John, New Brunswick. These ports offer quaint shopping, historic spots to explore and family-friendly maritime attractions.

Lisa Lee, travel specialist with Wanderlust Travel in Raritan, said Disney ships are great for families and have activities for all ages.

Having Disney Cruise Line sailing from Manhattan is in high demand, Lee said. “It’s wonderful,” she added. “It is so much easier to get the Disney experience now.”
